The Sydney Conservatorium of Music is one of the oldest and most prestigious music schools in Australia. Located adjacent to the Royal Botanic Gardens on the eastern fringe of the Sydney central business district, the Conservatorium is a faculty of the University of Sydney, and incorporates the community-based Conservatorium Open Academy and the Conservatorium High School. In addition to its secondary, undergraduate, post-graduate and community education teaching and learning functions, the Conservatorium also undertakes research in various fields of music.

The Music Café serves a range of cold drinks, excellent barista made coffee, sandwiches, salads, wraps, sushi, hot meals and arguably the best pies in Sydney.

The Café has indoor and outdoor seating and is an excellent option for a relaxing lunch any time of the year. A number of patrons buy their packaged lunch from the café and head into the Botanical Gardens to enjoy the unrivalled scenery.

During term time students and staff host “Lunchbreak” concerts, free of charge on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The café hosts Rotary, Lions and Probus clubs pre and post-performance.

The café also provides a popup bar for evening and weekend concerts for both internal orchestra performances and external main stream acts like Bic Runga and Kim Churchill.

The large open areas within the Con can also be booked for corporate and private parties from 20 to 500guests.
